Eu-BEST at the 1st International Symposium on Small Launch Vehicles and Spaceports

From October 28th to October 30th, Eu-BEST had the opportunity of participating in the 1st International Symposium on Small Launch Vehicles and Spaceports, an event organized by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the UK Space Agency in Oxford, UK. This event brought together space industry professionals and innovators to discuss the future of small launch vehicles and spaceports.

During the symposium, Eu-BEST had the opportunity to present its work under the theme of “System Design and Qualification.” The session highlighted the critical role that efficient, flexible testing infrastructure plays in reducing time and costs of NewSpace initiatives.

Spotlight on Eu-BEST's vision: Revolutionizing space testing

Marine Ferreres, representing Eu-BEST, took the stage to present how our project is paving the way for a new era in space testing infrastructure. Eu-BEST is not just about creating a test bench—it’s about creating a flexible, modular, and mobile solution designed to cater to the varying needs of different engine and stage testing requirements.

The presentation sparked significant interest, particularly around the adaptability of the Eu-BEST test bench to different testing needs and its ability to serve multiple launchers and locations across Europe.

Key points from the Eu-BEST presentation:

  • A modular and mobile test bench designed to accommodate different rocket engines and stages

  • The ability to test multiple launchers across various stages of development

  • A focus on cost-efficiency by standardizing testing services and minimizing operational costs

  • The flexibility to adapt to the specific needs of individual users, enabling tailored testing procedures

Collaborating and networking with industry leaders

The symposium offered an excellent platform for Eu-BEST to network with key players in the space industry, including potential users, partners, and collaborators. We were thrilled to engage with representatives from both established companies and innovative startups, as well as government agencies that are helping shape the future of space exploration in Europe.

The event also highlighted how small launch vehicles are becoming a crucial component of Europe’s space ecosystem, offering cost-effective solutions for commercial space missions.

What’s next for Eu-BEST?

With the success of the symposium, the event laid the groundwork for potential collaborations and partnerships.

Next step: Catch us at SpaceTech Bremen from November 19th to November 22nd, where we will continue showcasing our testing solution and engaging with key stakeholders from the space industry.

We would like to extend our thanks to the European Space Agency and the UK Space Agency for organizing such a valuable event and to all the attendees who took part in the lively discussions around the future of space access.
